Picket Fence Studios and My Sweet Petunia Collaboration Blog Hop

What a great day for a blog hop. And what could be better than a Picket Fence Studios collaboration with My Sweet Petunia?

I have two cards using two very different MISTI techniques. So here is the first one.

You might think I just randomly stamped lots of sea life images on my card front and that is what you are supposed to think. But in actuality, I used a homemade turnabout template and only had to place my images once onto that template, pick them up with my MISTI door and then rotate my 6x6 ink blended watercolor paper four times. Easy peasy and QUICK! I did fill in gaps with tiny images, but the biggest part of the design was done with just four turns.

I did not invent this template, but I can link you to the very talented Kathya Kalinine's YouTube video to see how she made it work. It takes a little practice to get a perfect turn each time, but once you figure it out, it is a super fun technique for the MISTI.

Now here is my card using the second technique - this one is a bit messier, but so worth it.

I masked off my card edges so I could concentrate on just a centered rectangle. I placed my watercolor paper into my MISTI with 2 layers of foam beneath because the first part of this card does not require a physical stamp. Now the kinda messy part - I inked up my MISTI door with five colors of Distress Inks. The door got one water spritz from about a foot above and then I shut it onto my paper. I love how the inks moved around and different areas had small ink splatters and some had more blended ones. I used my heat gun to dry the inks and then peeled off my masked edges and I had the perfect spot for a medium sized stamp and sentiment. And the MISTI cleans up easily, so don't worry about that!
