Paper Doll Fun

Happy Saturday!

Has it been a long time since you've played with paper dolls?  Me too.  Do you remember the Betsy McCall paper dolls?  My mother did not subscribe to McCall's magazine, but every once in a while she would buy an issue so I could cut out the Betsy doll and her wardrobe for that month.  I loved playing with those!

Paper dolls have changed a bit since then.  So I thought I'd show you a card made with dies from QuicKutz called Fashion Doll.  Now this die set is discontinued, but you CAN find it on Amazon or Ebay.  There are actually two sets.  The first has the doll, a dress and accessories.  The second has more clothing.

These sets caught my eye because of a class offered by Christine Urias of Scraptime.  Christine is so creative and her Fashion Doll Class really shows off her talent.  We are making lots of custom made outfits for our fashion dolls.  I am using mine for cards - but I could see using them on scrapbook pages too.

I made this card for a coworker who is going on medical leave.  I think the outfit is really cute - just one of the many I've learned to make so far.  One more reason to love dies - they can be just a starting point.  Add a little extra creativity and you've got unique projects.

Christine will be offering this as a self paced class.  Check out her website.  I think you will enjoy this class as well as her weekly podcasts.

I'll be back tomorrow to tell you how I store my dies.

  1. I love these paper doll dies! I just went off to eBay and bought them. I had never seen them before. I can't wait to get them and play with them. You are such an enabler! ;)
